Is ‘marriage’ anything to choose in Korean society? Ji-min and Cheol are a couple living together. One day they find Ji-min is pregnant and get to confront another stage of life. The director questions the essence of marriage by telling her own story of having a baby as an unmarried woman.

90년대 한국 사회를 뒤흔든 그러나 지금은 잊혀진 지존파 사건을 되짚으면서 우리 사회를 들여보게 하는 영화. 지존파에서 출발해 성수대교 붕괴, 삼풍 백화점 붕괴, 5.18 주모자 처벌 문제 등으로 유연하게 흘러가는 영화는 픽션 보다 더 픽션 같은 논픽션 이야기를 품은 한국 사회를 ‘기록’한다. What happened in Korean society in the 1990s? The film starts with the Jijon-pa (Supreme Gangsters) case. The shocking story is narrated through the discussion by the two detectives who arrested the gangsters, of details of the roundup, data screens, and the death sentence. Nevertheless, Nonfiction Diary’s focus is not on the crime story. Starting from Jijon-pa onwards, the film reflects on the 1990s, when Korea digressed into contemporary history. The Seongsu Bridge and the Sampoong Department Store’s collapses are recalled, followed by the then-government’s punishment of the May 18 Uprising leaders, revealing the Korean legal system’s death penalty status, touching on political and power issues. The audience is reminded that today, 2013, is an extension of that same flow. Director Jung Yoonsuk’s Non-fiction Diary “records” the records by summoning forgotten incidents, utilizing interviews and the media’s data screens. 　　After a successful debut that saw TOMORROW X TOGETHER (pronounced “tomorrow by together”) take over the airwaves, the group are preparing to embark on their first world tour in TOMORROW X TOGETHER: OUR LOST SUMMER – a behind the scenes documentary coming exclusively to Disney+ July 28.
　　In 2019, TOMORROW X TOGETHER made a splash by becoming the first K-pop group to enter the U.S. Billboard 200 chart with their debut album. In TOMORROW X TOGETHER: OUR LOST SUMMER, viewers get to see band members SOOBIN, YEONJUN, BEOMGYU, TAEHYUN, and HUENINGKAI reunite in preparation for their international tour. With nerves at an all-time high and pressure to deliver the performance of a lifetime, how will the group handle themselves on some of the world’s biggest stages, including Lollapalooza? Follow along in this upcoming documentary slated to debut July 28 only on Disney+.

　　Every weekend the gay male choir G-Voice rehearses in Seoul – as they have been doing since 2003. The choir, being a kind of antidote to homophobic Korean society, makes the everyday lives of gay men its theme in an intelligent and humorous way. For their tenth anniversary, the members are planning to give their first big concert with ambitious arrangements, creative choreographies and many new pieces. This really puts these amateur singers to the test because the enthusiasm of some members outweighs their vocal abilities, whilst others work themselves into the ground as voluntary organisers. Besides preparing for their big day, G-Voice are also politically active, singing for equality and serenading against discrimination, and not just at LGBTQ demos.
　　Director Lee Dong-ha succeeds, almost incidentally, in giving an insight into gay life in Korea. He also accompanies choir members and organisers after the rehearsals, when conversations become more personal over a meal. Filmed in the style of glossy music videos, G-Voices’ set-pieces provide a commentary, among other things, on the men’s experiences of Korean society, their conservative families and a gay joy of life. berlinale 2016
